Kolkata Police has initiated a new programme styled as “Neighbourhood Watch” involving common citizens, with an intention to make the localities free from any kind of illegal and unlawful activities. Citizens are encouraged to come forward and act as eyes and ears of Police Department and keep a vigil surrounding their locality and inform Police authority regarding any doubtful and obnoxious activity. Youths of the locality having good reputation are encouraged to patrol in their area as per suggestion of local Police administration.

To make the willing youths competent for the job a rudimentary level of training imparted to them.  As a pilot project it is already started at Behala PS area. We will extend this programme to other parts of the city also.
